Relive Vincent van Gogh’s daily life during his stay in the Borinage coal region from December 1878 to October 1880 and find out how the leading artist first ventured onto the road to art. Le Borinage was not only Van Gogh’s birthplace, but he also developed his artistic thinking there. He developed a series of themes to which he remained faithful throughout his career. His later works still reflect the motifs inspired by the region: the daily life of workers, peasants and weavers, their humble abodes, their working conditions but also the copies he made early in his career and which he would go back to at a later stage. Must-sees: reproductions of his artwork, created during his visit, but also his literary preferences, his exchange of letters and the atmospheric room furnished with period furniture.
