  • Starting off from the Grand-Place (the main square) and its 21st century integrations, discover the interior of the City Hall (subject to accessibility) and its centuries-old rooms. Then walk across the Mayor’s Garden, walk down a few old streets and get close to the only baroque Belfry in Belgium and its park on the site where the castle of the Counts of Hainaut used to stand proudly. Then enter Sainte Waudru Collegiate Church (always subject to accessibility) and discover an incredible patrimony: stained-glass windows from the 16th century, the sculptures of Jacques Du Broeucq (architect and sculptor of the Renaissance), Sainte Waudru’s reliquaries, the architecture of the church… a 2-hour peak into the city’s history and evolution from its origins until today.

You can also add a visit to the Treasure of Sainte Waudru (+€3/person), the “Artothèque” (+€4/person, +€50/guide) or the Belfry (+€6/person, with or without guide).
