Au Borinage – Karin Borghouts / The Maison Van Gogh in Petit-Wasmes

A photographic journey through the Borinage: In the footsteps of Van Gogh.

Maison Van Gogh in Petit-Wasmes (Colfontaine) and Cuesmes (Mons), plus the Marcasse colliery site.

The Mons 2025 Foundation, in collaboration with the Pôle muséal de la Ville de Mons and the Centre Culturel de Colfontaine, presents – Au Borinage – a new exhibition by Belgian photographer Karin Borghouts. The exhibition will run simultaneously at the Maison Van Gogh in Cuesmes and the Maison Van Gogh in Petit-Wasmes from 22 June to 13 October 2024. The artist will be presenting a previously unseen collection of photographs, including some from the Vincent Was Here project which catalogues the places where Van Gogh lived and worked.
In addition to an original video following Karin Borghouts’ photographic work over the past year as artist-in-residence at the Maison Van Gogh in Petit-Wasmes (Colfontaine), the exhibition will feature 30 photographs selected by the artist, shared between the two Maisons Van Gogh, as well as one photograph at the Marcasse colliery. Having played a major role in saving the Maison Van Gogh in Petit-Wasmes, the Mons 2025 Foundation is delighted to promote Van Gogh’s legacy and make it accessible to all through this original exhibition Au Borinage.
Alongside the exhibition, there will be a programme of activities: lectures, guided tours, concerts... something for everyone.
