    From 25 to 26 March 2017, in the Messines district, enjoy one of the oldest events of its kind in Hainaut, theDucasse de Messines. The festival has managed to hold on to all its charm and traditional appeal with a huge flower market.
    The origins of this Ducasse date back to the 17th century, when a picture disappeared from a chapel. Pilgrims flocked to see the many miracles observed here.
    The event quickly grew in popularity and during the 19th century, a number of traditional touches were added.
    The Ducasse Messines as we know it today was born.
    In 1992, a family of giants, Batisse and Lalie accompanied by their son, Biloute and in 2006, Trinette, appeared, adding their charm to the festivities.
    Every year, the Messines district is packed with an impressive crowd that has gathered to admire these giants or wander through the flower market.
